Apparel Landed-Cost Calculator

The factory price is only part of the story. Estimate your true per-piece landed cost — factory (FOB) price, freight, and import duty — before you request a quote. We calculate duty at the standard rate, not the preferential one, because we are not REX registered and cannot issue the proof of origin that would unlock it. Better a number you can plan against than an optimistic one.

Estimated landed cost / piece

$5.21 – $9.54

Full order of 500 pcs: $2,605 – $4,770

Factory price (FOB) / pc
$4.30 – $7.80
Freight / pc
$0.20 – $0.45
Import duty / pc (16.5%)
$0.71 – $1.29
Est. transit time
30–40 days

US apparel duty is typically ~16.5% (0–32% depending on fibre and construction). There is no preference scheme for Bangladeshi apparel entering the US, so this rate applies regardless of paperwork.

Figures are indicative 2026 planning estimates based on typical factory pricing and freight rates. Your exact cost depends on fabric, decoration, garment weight, and order size. Get an itemized quote for real numbers.

What goes into landed cost?

Comparing suppliers on the factory price alone is how brands get surprised at the border. Landed cost is what actually reaches your warehouse and sets your margin. Four components drive it:

1. Factory price (FOB)

The per-piece cost to produce and decorate your garment, delivered to the port of loading. It falls as order quantity rises — see our clothing manufacturing cost guide for a full breakdown, or our low-MOQ manufacturing page for small runs.

2. Freight

Sea, air, or express courier from Dhaka to your market. Sea is cheapest per piece; courier is fastest. See shipping & logistics for transit times and Incoterms.

3. Import duty

This is the big lever, and the one most often misrepresented. Apparel made in Bangladesh qualifies for 0% duty into the EU, UK, Canada, and Australia under least-developed-country trade schemes — but the preferential rate can only be claimed against a valid proof of origin, and we are not REX registered, so we cannot issue one. We therefore quote the standard rate and let you plan against it. The US has no preference scheme for Bangladeshi apparel at all, with duties around 16.5%. More in why manufacture in Bangladesh.

4. Clearance & handling

Customs brokerage, port fees, and last-mile delivery. Our quotes include freight to your door, but customs duty and import VAT are paid by you at clearance — we do not ship DDP, so budget these separately — see payment terms.

Landed-cost FAQs

What is landed cost in apparel manufacturing?
Landed cost is the true per-piece cost of your garment once it reaches your door — the factory (FOB) price plus freight, import duty, and any clearance and handling. Comparing suppliers on FOB alone is misleading; landed cost is what actually hits your margin.
Is clothing from Bangladesh really duty-free?
The tariff line is, but claiming it is a separate question. Bangladeshi apparel qualifies for 0% duty into the EU (EBA), UK (DCTS), Canada (LDCT) and Australia (LDC tariff) — but a preferential rate can only be claimed against a valid proof of origin. We are not REX registered, so we cannot issue an EU or UK statement on origin, or a GSP Form A, at any order size. Budget the standard rate unless your customs broker can establish origin another way. This calculator does exactly that. The United States has no preference scheme for Bangladeshi apparel at all, so its ~16.5% applies either way.
Can you provide a certificate of origin for preferential duty?
We provide a standard certificate of origin with every shipment, and it is enough for customs clearance. What we cannot provide is a preferential proof of origin — the REX statement on origin the EU and UK require, or a GSP Form A. We are not registered for it, so we will not imply that your goods clear duty-free on our paperwork. We would rather you budget the duty and be right than plan around a saving that does not arrive.
How accurate is this calculator?
It gives a realistic planning range based on 2026 factory pricing and typical freight rates. Actual figures depend on your exact fabric, decoration, order size, garment weight, and freight contract. Send your tech pack and we will return an itemized quote within 24 hours.
Does the price change with order quantity?
Yes. Larger runs lower the per-piece factory price — the calculator applies quantity breaks from 50 pieces up to 1,000+. Freight per piece also falls as you consolidate into full containers.
