Minimum order quantity is the single biggest barrier new and independent brands hit when they approach a factory. Most large manufacturers are built for 1,000–5,000 pieces per style, which forces you to over-commit before the market has validated anything. We built our lines to run economically from 50 pieces per style so you can launch, learn, and reorder on your terms.

What "low MOQ" actually means here

Our standard minimum is 50 pieces per style for knitwear — t-shirts, hoodies, polos, sweatshirts, joggers — rising to 100 in peak season, and 300 pieces per style for woven garments. Within a single design you can usually split colours (for example 50 of one colourway and 50 of another), so a 50-piece run does not have to mean 50 identical units.

That threshold is deliberately set where quality and cost still work in your favour. You get the same combed cotton, the same AQL 2.5 inspection, and the same private-label finishing on a 50-piece order that a 10,000-piece buyer gets — low minimum, not low standard.

The print-on-demand ceiling

Print-on-demand is the right call for validating a design and the wrong one for building a business. You are paying a per-unit price that assumes a batch of one, you cannot change the garment underneath the print, and your customer receives someone else's blank with your artwork on it.

Moving to your own production changes three things at once: unit cost falls because you are buying a run rather than a single, margin becomes yours rather than the platform's, and the garment itself becomes a product decision — fabric weight, fit, neck label, packaging. The reason brands stay on print-on-demand longer than they should is the minimum waiting on the other side. Ours is 50.

You do not need a tech pack to start

The most common thing that stops a founder is thinking they need a finished technical package before they can even ask for a quote. You do not. Send a sketch, a reference garment you want to improve on, or a clear description with your target price and quantity, and our development team builds the tech pack for you — recommending fabrics for your budget and engineering the fit before anything goes into production.

A completed tech pack does get you a sharper quote faster, because we are not guessing at fit, fabric weight, or trims. There is a blank template in our starter pack if you would rather arrive with one.

Why low minimums de-risk a new brand

A large first order ties your cash up in inventory the market has not yet proven it wants. If a fit or colourway underperforms, that capital is stuck as dead stock — the most common way early apparel brands run out of runway.

  • Test several designs, fits, and colours with real customers before scaling
  • Keep working capital free instead of sinking it into unsold stock
  • Get to market faster with a smaller, lower-risk first run
  • Reorder the winners at better unit costs as demand proves itself

How to sequence a first run without over-committing

  • Start with your best-selling design, not your favourite one — you already have the sales data
  • Sample one style before committing to a range; the cost is credited back against bulk
  • Run 50 pieces across two colourways rather than 100 of one, so you learn something from the run
  • Keep the size curve tight on a first run — you can widen it once you see what sells
  • Reorder the winner at a higher quantity; the per-unit price improves and you already know it sells

Who orders low MOQ from us

  • Fashion and streetwear startups launching a first drop
  • Brands already selling on print-on-demand who have outgrown the margin
  • Established brands testing a new category or seasonal capsule
  • Retailers and boutiques adding a private-label line
  • Corporate, promotional, and event buyers with fixed quantities
  • Crowdfunded and pre-order brands matching production to demand

Being straight about the trade-offs

Per-unit cost at 50 pieces is higher than at 1,000 — fixed costs spread across fewer units, and no factory can make that arithmetic disappear. We keep small runs workable by sourcing fabric directly from mills, cutting and sewing in-house, and using low-setup decoration like DTF where screen setup would not amortise across a small order. We also tell you where the price breaks sit so you can plan reorders around them rather than discovering them later.

You also take on things print-on-demand handled for you: you hold the stock, you pay import duty and VAT at your own border, and you wait 12–15 days for production plus freight rather than shipping the same week. If those trade-offs do not suit where your brand is right now, staying on print-on-demand a while longer is a legitimate answer and we will say so.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the lowest MOQ you can produce?

Our standard minimum is 50 pieces per style for knitwear (t-shirts, hoodies, polos, sweatshirts), rising to 100 in peak season. Woven garments start at 300 pieces per style, and garment dyeing has its own minimum of 25 pieces per colour. Within a design, colours can often be split, e.g. 50/50 across two colourways.

I sell 30–50 units a month. Am I too small to use a manufacturer?

No — that is roughly the volume our 50-piece minimum is designed for. One production run covers about a month of your current sales, which is a sensible first commitment rather than a leap. Most factories would turn that volume away; we are set up for it.

How is this different from print-on-demand?

You control the garment, not just the artwork: fabric, weight, fit, neck label, trims, and packaging are all yours, and the unit cost is a production price rather than a batch-of-one price. In exchange you hold the stock and wait for production and freight.

What does a first order actually cost?

Sampling first: USD 60 per style blank or USD 85 with your branding, plus about USD 45 shipping — all credited back against your bulk order. Then the run itself. At indicative CIF pricing an adult regular-sleeve tee starts from $10.75 a piece and a heavyweight oversized hoodie from $14.50, so a 50-piece first run sits in the low four figures before decoration and duty.

Is low MOQ more expensive per piece?

Yes, per-unit cost is higher at 50 pieces than at volume because fixed costs spread across fewer units. We show you the price breaks at higher quantities so you can plan reorders, and we use low-setup decoration methods to keep small runs affordable.

Can I mix sizes and colours within the minimum?

Within one design, yes — you choose the size curve, and colours can usually be split across the MOQ. Each distinct design is counted separately toward its own minimum.

Can you help if I have never manufactured clothing before?

Yes — first-time founders are exactly who our development service is built for. We create your tech pack from a sketch or reference, recommend fabrics for your budget, engineer the fit, and guide you through sampling and production step by step.

Do I have to pay everything upfront?

No. Payment is 50% before production starts and the remaining 50% before shipment. We do not offer credit terms on a first order — for a brand your size, neither should you expect them from a factory that has not worked with you before.

Do you offer samples before a low-MOQ bulk order?

Always. Development samples are produced in 7–10 days and approved before any bulk run, so a small order still starts from a sample you signed off on. The sample charge is credited against your bulk order.

What if the first run does not sell?

That risk is real and it is why the minimum matters. At 50 pieces the downside is a few thousand dollars of stock, not a year of runway. It is also why we push you toward your proven design rather than a new one for a first production run.

Can I add more styles later without starting over?

Yes. Your approved sample, patterns, and specs stay on file, so a reorder skips development entirely. New styles each carry their own 50-piece minimum, which is what lets you widen a range one product at a time.

How long until I have finished product in hand?

Allow 25–35 days from order to shipment. Bulk production itself runs 12–15 days for orders up to 2,000 pieces, counted from approved sample and confirmed deposit — sampling and approval sit in front of that, which is why the end-to-end figure is the one we publish.
